Apia, Samoa:

On Wednesday, 3rd September, Steva Auina, former Miss Samoa Fa’afafine 2015, returned to the SVSG Campus of Hope, leading the Masiofo Siva Academy from Auckland, New Zealand.

After being crowned Miss Samoa Fa’afafine in 2015, Steva Auina visited the children at the SVSG Campus of Hope, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their support during the pageant and promising to return. This week, Steva fulfilled that promise, bringing the entire Masiofo Siva Academy to share in the experience and witness the ongoing work of SVSG.

A group of 40 talented young members from the New Zealand cultural performing group visited the Campus of Hope and presented a $1,000 SAT donation for the children. The group performed dances for the children and were visibly moved, sharing tears as they listened to the stories of those under SVSG’s care.

The visit was more than a cultural exchange; it reminded the children of the Campus that they are valued, cherished, and remembered by communities beyond Samoa’s shores. It was also a deeply emotional experience for the young performers, who were touched by the opportunity to spend time with the children and share moments of joy.

Academy Director Steva Auina reflected on the visit: “I hope that through this visit, the youths under my leadership will come to know the true essence of what it means to serve and to love their communities. This experience has touched us all in a very special way.”

SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Academy and to Steva Auina for keeping the beautiful promise made to the beloved children of the SVSG Campus.

The contribution of the Le Masiofo Siva Academy reflects the strength of Samoan communities abroad in standing together for the welfare of vulnerable children and highlights the importance of cultural connections in nurturing healing and hope.
